My daily routine was like a seven-step ladder; each step a phase of reading, writing, and practice. The seventh step was always the most special: writing a piece for my website. It was the moment to transform everything I’d learned and felt throughout the day into words. But now, it’s past midnight, and I’ve only just reached this final step.
It’s not that I didn’t work today. In fact, I was busy all day. But time slipped through my fingers like sand. Each phase took longer than I had anticipated. And now, in the silence of the night, with tired eyes and Arif’s melancholic music playing in the background, I sit and reflect on how far behind I’ve fallen.
This delay isn’t just an accident; it’s a sign. A sign of the planning fallacy — that cognitive bias which makes us underestimate how long tasks will take. We think we can fit everything into a few hours, but reality is always more complex.
